AMA Victoria DiT Subdivision: Election of 2012 Committee
Call for DIT Committee Nominations
Interns, HMO’s and Registrars can become more involved in the issues affecting them by nominating for one or more Doctors in Training Subdivision Committee positions. Involvement contributes to enhancing junior doctor education, work experience and interest in broader medical areas such as global health and can be a personally rewarding experience.
Nominations are hereby called for the following positions:

Vice-President
AMA Victoria Council, DIT Representative
Federal Council of DITs (AMACDT), AMA Victoria Representative
Communications Representative
Portfolio Areas
Education & Professional Development Representative
Industrial Relations Representative
International Medical Graduate Representative
Public Health & Community Projects Representative
Professional Support & Welfare Representative
Social Events Representative
Other Positions
DIT Representative, Industrial Relations Sub-Committee of Board
DIT Alternate, Industrial Relations Sub-Committee of Board
Council Observer, AMA Victoria Council
AMACDT Alternate
PMCV Representative/VMPF Alternate

Eligibility to Nominate
Nominees must be financial members of AMA Victoria, DIT Subdivision.
How to nominate
Nominees are required to e-mail their expression of interest to the returning officer, John Milburn-Clark, at johnm@amavic.com.au by 5pm Monday 27 February 2012. Late nominations can still be accepted until Wednesday 14 March, details on late nominations are here.
Nominations must specify:
- Your full name and contact details
- The position or positions for which you are nominating
- A statement in support of your nomination, not exceeding 250 words
- Declaration of any conflicts of interest for the position(s)
Details of candidates and their statements will be circulated to DIT Subdivision members.
Late Nominations
Nominations may be submitted up until 5pm Wednesday 14 March (i.e. 2 hours prior to the commencement of the Election Meeting).
Please note that late nominations (i.e. received after 5:00 pm on 27 February) will not have personal statements circulated.
Nominations will be accepted from attending subdivision members at the Election Meeting but only for positions for which there have been no expressions of interest.
After the ballot for each position is declared, unsuccessful candidates will be given the opportunity to cascade their nomination to subsequent positions.
Election Meeting
Ballots for all positions will be held at the Election Meeting commencing 7pm Wednesday 14 March at AMA House, 293 Royal Parade, Parkville.
The ballot for each contested position will be determined by simple majority.
Only financial members of AMA Victoria, DIT Subdivision who attend the meeting will be entitled to vote. There is no provision for proxy voting.
Prior to the ballot for each position, candidates for that position will be given the opportunity to address the meeting in support of their candidature for a maximum of two minutes
Project Officers
In each portfolio area there will be an unrestricted number of project officers working with the respective portfolio representatives. Subdivision members interested in serving as a project officer are asked to submit their expression of interest to the returning officer prior to the Election Meeting. Please note, however, that there will be no ballot for these positions.
