Subdivisions

AMA Victoria members are allocated to Subdivisions according to the location of their practice/workplace, according to the map above, in one of the following: Albury-Wodonga, Ballarat, Bendigo, Central Highlands, East Gippsland, Eastern, Geelong, Goulburn Valley, Mallee, Northern, Otways/SW Country, Peninsula, Southern, Central West/South Gippsland, Western and Wimmera. You can call the Marketing & Membership team on (03) 9280 8722 for more information about your Subdivision.

The AMA Victoria Subdivision program provides members with an opportunity to network with colleagues from across all disciplines of medicine, socialise and address medical issues of mutual concern, particularly regional issues, and a diverse range of topics is covered. Members can raise issues for discussion and influence the development of policy at AMA Victoria State Council through their subdivision representative.

In 2011, Subdivision meetings looked at the future of the Victorian health care system, attended by Department of Health representatives; mandatory reporting; eHealth; and flaws in the system. The soapbox session provides attendees with the opportunity to raise issues, and a report following the meeting is emailed to all Subdivision attendees. Further resources can also be made available for a period of time after the meeting on the Resources and reports from recent events page.

AMA Victoria encourages members to suggest topics of interest, prior to the Subdivision meeting, and to provide feedback, via the Membership & Marketing team.

Although these meetings are run by members of the Subdivision, AMA Victoria provides administrative and sponsorship support for meetings.
