Advance Care Planning
AMA Victoria Policy: Advance Care Directives & wishes as to Organ and Tissue Donation.
As endorsed by the AMA Victoria State Council and approved by the AMA Victoria Board November 2011, AMA Victoria will be submitting its views to the federal AMA in the context of its policy review into these issues.
In May and June 2011, we completed separate submissions to the Victorian Law Reform Commission’s Review of Guardianship Laws, and to the Victorian Legislative Council Inquiry into Organ and Tissue Donation. In each of these papers we highlight the importance of advance care planning, and respecting patient choices when they are unable to communicate their wishes.
