Bed Watch
During the 2010 Victorian Election, the then Coalition Opposition committed to providing 1600 new public hospital beds. In the 2010 Budget the Baillieu Government reaffirmed this commitment to adding 800 new beds to Victorian public hospitals by the end of its first term and, if re-elected, an additional 800 beds in its second term. It was promised that these beds will be funded and provided as follows:

Over the last four years Victoria has seen a steady growth in bed numbers but more needs to be done to keep up with rapid population growth and growing demand for hospital services.
