Health Services Plan 2022

It was a constant refrain from AMA Victoria during 2010 — we need a plan to deliver the long term improvements in health care. Doctors were frustrated at seeing ad hoc announcements, fragmented programs, and political spin. In response to this pressure the Coalition promised at last year’s State Election to develop a Health Services Plan 2022 within the first six months of a new Coalition Government.
The Rural and Regional Health Plan was released by the Victorian Government at the end of 2011. This is the second stage of the Government’s plan for the future of the Victorian health system. In May last year the Government released the plan’s first stages: the Victorian Health Priorities Framework 2012–2022 and the Metropolitan Health Plan. A 12-year capital works plan has also been promised by the Government and is due to be released later this year. All plans that have been released are available here.
AMA Victoria President Dr Harry Hemley served on the Ministerial Advisory Committee that helped develop these plans. We welcome any feedback or suggestions.
