Council Report: Minister for Health attends February meeting
The AMA Victoria Council Meeting was held on Tuesday 22 February 2011.
The Hon David Davis MLC, Minister for Health, attended the meeting to speak on Victoria’s health commitments and responded to questions from Councillors. The Minister was keen to acknowledge AMA Victoria’s contribution to the ongoing development of Victoria’s Health Plan and affirmed that the Plan would ensure better services delivery state-wide.
Peter Fitzgerald, Executive Director, Strategy and Policy, Department of Health, also presented to Council on the ‘Health Services Plan 2022’ and discussed the direction of Victoria’s health system. The slides from the presentation are available here.
Group discussions were then held on various topics including:
- the capacity of Victoria's hospital system
- innovation
- training
- quality and research
- population health
- linking health care.
The groups presented their discussion notes to Council. A summarised version of these is included in the slides.
The meeting promoted lively and constructive discussion – it was a valuable experience for all.
