Specialist Training Places
One of the most important issues facing Australia’s health is medical training. In 2012, Victoria will have an estimated 792 graduates from three universities.
Victoria has pledged to provide PGY1 and PGY2 positions for every domestic graduate and has been gradually increasing the available intern positions to 623 this year. No commitment has been made on later-year training positions.
Specialist training position access will be one of the key priorities Dr Hemley will be pursuing in his discussions with the Minister for Health David Davis during 2011.
