AMA Victoria welcomes Nicola Roxon as new Health Minister

AMA Victoria President Dr Doug Travis welcomed the appointment today of Nicola Roxon as Labor’s new Health Minister.

“Ms Roxon understands health issues and the specifics of Victoria’s health system,” Dr Travis said.

“We look forward to working with Ms Roxon to improve health care for all Victorians.

“Negotiations for the next round of Australian Health Care Agreements will be the first step in this process.

“The federal contribution to public hospital funding has fallen to a mere 41 per cent in recent years and it is time to redress the balance.

“We also look forward to hearing more about Labor’s initiative to improve men’s health, which was announced in the lead-up to the election.”
