Confidentiality of medical records

Patients must have confidence their medical records are confidential, AMA Victoria President Dr Doug Travis said today.
“A patient’s confidence in the confidentiality of their medical records is the cornerstone of the patient-doctor relationship,” Dr Travis said.
“If the community does not have confidence in the privacy of their medical records, the very basis of medical practice is under threat.”
