AMA Victoria can make practice perfect

27 May 2008

AMA Victoria is making its first moves into the recruitment industry with the launch of mpstaff, a medical practice recruitment service designed to find the right medical practice staff for general practitioners and specialists.

mpstaff Recruitment Manager, Lee-Anne Pollard, says AMA Victoria’s long history of working with doctors gives mpstaff a competitive edge in medical practice recruitment.

“We understand the pressures of medical practice and doctors keep us informed about what staff are right for their practice. This allows us to source the right candidate for their practice environments,” she says.

Ms Pollard says the current job market is good for employees but practice managers and doctors have been finding it difficult to attract suitable staff.

“Administrative assistants, receptionists and even practice managers have more employment opportunities than ever, and right across the state GPs, specialists and office managers are having problems finding the right candidates,” Ms Pollard says.

“Recruitment processes can be incredibly frustrating and time consuming – there are advertisements, wading through applications, interviews and selections. It is always a challenging task but one that is important to the success of any medical practice.”
mpstaff makes recruiting easy – it assesses the individual practice’s needs and delivers the best candidate for job. mpstaff can also tailor advice and methods for individual practices.

The services of mpstaff are available to AMA Victoria members at a reduced fee. Call mpstaff on (03) 9348 1111.

AMA Victoria and mpstaff are running information sessions to prepare receptionists and administrators to make the move and pursue a career in medical administration, reception, or practice management.

The ‘Careers in Medical Practice’ sessions will provide insight into the medical practice industry and are perfect for anyone looking to enter, return to, or further their career in medical practice.
AMA Victoria represents over 3,000 doctors (specialists and general practitioners) across Victoria and understands what they look for in their staff.

“We want to pass this information on to potential candidates to prepare them to work in the industry,” Ms Pollard says.
