AMA Victoria to hear Mallee doctors’ concerns
18 August 2008
AMA Victoria will be told the concerns and ideas of local doctors at its Mallee subdivision meeting in Mildura tomorrow (Tuesday) evening.
Doctors will have the opportunity to take the floor for two minutes to update their colleagues and AMA Victoria representatives on issues of concern and ideas for improving health care in the region.
AMA Victoria President Dr Doug Travis said Mallee doctors played an important role in shaping AMA Victoria’s rural and regional health initiatives. “We look forward to the input of local doctors at tomorrow’s meeting,” he said.
The meeting will provide an update on the progress of AMA Victoria’s enterprise bargaining negotiations for public hospital doctors.
“We are seeking feedback from our members on an enterprise bargaining proposal,” Dr said Travis. “We will discuss the progress made in negotiations so far and our options for action.”
AMA Victoria’s last met with local doctors in April on this issues of medical workforce shortages and worsening public hospital conditions.
