AMA to meet with local doctors
18 February 2008
AMA Victoria will meet with Bendigo doctors tomorrow (Tuesday) to hear their concerns and discuss the future of health care in the region.
“Issues high on the agenda for local doctors are funding for public hospitals, attracting and retaining doctors to the region, and providing better health services to locals” said AMA Victoria Vice President Dr Stephen Parnis.
“Bendigo doctors play an important role in shaping AMA Victoria’s rural and regional health initiatives and we look forward to their input at tomorrow’s meeting,” said Dr Parnis.
“Medical workforce shortages are of particular concern for AMA Victoria and we have recently called on the Brumby Government to inject $116.5 million over four years as a rural medical workforce rescue package.”
AMA Victoria’s Bendigo subdivision meeting will feature keynote speaker John Mulder, Bendigo Health CEO. In his speech, Mr Mulder will outline opportunities for regional leadership in health and the changing face of Bendigo Health.
