AMA welcomes regional capital works upgrades

AMA Victoria welcomes the State Government’s announcement today to invest over $100 million in capital works in regional Victorian hospitals, including Warrnambool, Bendigo and Ballarat.
AMA Victoria President Dr Doug Travis said: “There is increased demand in Victorian country hospitals. We need good facilities to provide the best possible patient care. The increased funding will bring us closer to achieving this.”
Dr Travis was at the Rural Health Conference in Bendigo to hear the announcement.
The State Government’s capital upgrades include $70 million for the second stage redevelopment of the Warrnambool Hospital; $9.5m to redevelop Bendigo Hospital’s emergency department; and $5.5m to improve Ballarat Hospital’s mental health service facilities.
