Rural funding in unhealthy state (Herald Sun, letter to the editor)
5 February 2009
It’s disappointing to see health care miss out in the Federal Government's $42 billion economic stimulus package.
Demand for health care is growing at a rapid rate, and more and more patients are being treated in hospitals with crumbling infrastructure and inadequate facilities.
Rural hospitals across the country are most in need of infrastructure funding boosts.
We've got rural hospitals with outdated equipment, leaking roofs, and inadequate facilities.
A federal healthcare funding boost could make a difference in reducing the disparity between rural and metropolitan health services and the ability to attract doctors to rural areas.
