CoAG deal on health reform

What does it mean for Victoria?
- The Commonwealth will add an extra $890 million for Victoria over four years. This is an increase 1% a year, from 41% to 44%. The extra funds will begin flowing in July this year
- The states will manage the Local Hospital Networks, as they already do
- Victoria will receive an extra 332 beds over four years. The Commonwealth will pay the whole cost of these beds, and 60% of other beds added after 2014
- The GST has been storm in teacup and will go straight to state funding pools. The net effect is the Commonwealth share will increase to 44% in next 4 years, up from 41%
- The deal includes mental health funds for youth prevention but not for hospitals beds
- No funds for dental health
- The total package is worth $5bn for all states
