AMA Victoria's reaction to the new health deal
The Age, 15 February 2011.
Dr Harry Hemley, president of the Australian Medical Association Victoria:
"I’m pleased the deal promises to deliver increased funds, more beds, transparency, greater clinical input and less red tape. Victoria already has activity-based hospital funding and local hospital boards so we won’t see as big a difference in our hospitals than other states. I’m not convinced that Medicare Locals would increase access to GPs and allied health providers in the community."
