General Practice
We have been active in opposing Medicare Locals in their current form and have been calling on the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments to defer their implementation until there has been further consultation with the medical profession, or not implement them at all.
Some of the main issues that will affect the medical profession include the proposed roll-out of Medicare Locals, Nurse Practitioners, Medical Workforce Training and the Health Services Plan 2022. We continue to lobby hard to reduce the burden of red tape.
AMA Victoria has met with the Minister for Health, David Davis, to discuss the Health Services Plan 2022 and Minister Davis attended AMA Victoria Council to hear from our members. Directors from the Department of Health have attended AMA subdivision meetings to hear doctors’ ideas for the plan.
AMA Victoria also has a Section of General Practice committee who work to promote the interests of General Practitioners in all matters relating to their professional work. For more information please visit the Section page.
