AMA Victoria has met with the Minister for Health, David Davis, to discuss the Health Services Plan 2022 and Minister Davis attended AMA Victoria Council to hear from our members. Directors from the Department of Health have attended AMA subdivision meetings to hear doctors’ ideas for the plan.

Additionally, we have lobbied the government to ensure that Medicare auditors do not have unrestricted access to the medical records of all patients – respecting the doctor-patient relationship and the privacy of clinical information. We have also protected formal collaborative care arrangements between allied health professionals and doctors, to ensure that the role of doctors in team-based care is not undermined. Our War on Red Tape campaign has ensured that onerous reporting arrangements and paperwork are streamlined and minimised where possible.
