Abigail founded the La Trobe Association of Biomedical Students in Bendigo, creating a meaningful wellbeing and support network for rural biomedical students. Rose Marie initiated a food diversion programme in Warrnambool to support men affected by alcohol dependence and from this developed her passion for humanitarian medicine. Both said they were honoured to be selected and we are equally honoured to welcome them as members.
We look forward to supporting them throughout their internship year and beyond, and we hope they will continue to carry advocacy and community-care at the heart of their practice.
What this competition was
AMA Victoria supports and advocates for doctors’ wellbeing at every career stage. Our Peer Support Service and Peer Visitor Program reflect this commitment by connecting doctors with peers who understand the pressures of medicine and provide companionship for those who might be isolated.
We wanted to hear from final year students who shared these values of support and advocacy.
