Are you starting your internship in 2027?

Thanks to the generous support of our wellbeing programs sponsor, PSA Insurance, four final year medical students will have their AMA Victoria intern membership fully paid for in 2027.

AMA Victoria supports and advocates for doctors’ wellbeing at every career stage. Our Peer Support Service and Peer Visitor Program reflect this commitment by connecting doctors with peers who understand the pressures of medicine and provide companionship for those who might be isolated.

We want to hear from final year students who share these values of support and advocacy.


How to Apply

Tell us about a time when you supported the wellbeing of someone in your community or advocated for your peers. What did you learn from the experience, and how you think you might integrate these learnings in the future?

You can submit your response in any of these formats:

  • A short written piece (maximum 300 words)

  • A video (maximum 1 minute, filmed on your phone is fine)

  • A creative option (for example, an infographic, illustrated story, or audio recording)

  • The opportunity to be featured in VICDOC magazine in 2027, sharing your insights as an intern and advocate for wellbeing.


Selection Criteria

Applications will be assessed on:

  • Connection to wellbeing or advocacy – showing how you’ve supported or stood up for others

  • Reflection – what you learned from the experience

  • Future contribution – how you will use these learnings going forward.

You must also be a current AMA Victoria student member (membership is free for students). Join here.


Key Dates

  • Applications open: Thursday 1 October 2026

  • Applications close: Friday 30 October 2026

  • Recipients announced: Friday 20 November 2026
