An AMA Victoria Women in Medicine Committee event
Join us for an important and thought provoking evening exploring gendered medicine and how we can drive meaningful change across the health system.
This event brings together clinicians to examine the experiences of women not only as patients but also as doctors navigating the same system. Together we will consider how gender influences diagnosis, treatment, research and outcomes and what this means for everyday clinical practice.
We are pleased to welcome Dr Marilla Druitt, co author of the Inquiry into Women’s Pain Report, as our lead speaker. Dr Druitt will open the evening by setting the scene, sharing key findings from the Inquiry, reflecting on how we have arrived at this point and outlining a call to action for advocacy and research priorities.
Following this, Dr Druitt will be joined by a panel of clinicians for a facilitated discussion and audience Q and A. Panellists include Dr Jill Tomlinson, AMA Victoria Past President who led AMA Victoria’s submission into the Inquiry, Dr Swati Mukherjee, interventional cardiologist and healthcare equity advocate.
The Q and A will be moderated by members of the Women in Medicine Committee.
While this is a Women in Medicine Committee event, we strongly encourage attendance from all doctors and health professionals. Advancing gender equity in healthcare is a shared responsibility and meaningful change requires broad engagement across the profession.
