Have you had a baby since 2022?
Have you had maternity leave denied during this time?
Has your continuity of service been impacted for any period you had off after the birth or adoption of your baby?
Has your employment or training been impacted by a period of maternity leave?
ASMOF Victoria and AMA Victoria's Workplace Relations team hear from members every week whose Maternity Leave entitlements under the Doctors in Training and Medical Specialists Enterprise Agreements have been denied and incorrectly applied, or who have received inaccurate advice about them from their employer.
We know that there are members who have not received their rightful entitlements. We want to address this collective issue and show government how maternity leave rights continue to be denied to doctors.
Are you sure you received what you were entitled to?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, or if you are due to have a baby in the coming months, please send us the following information so we can assess and discuss any issues.
Your employer and position classification now and at the time of your maternity leave.
Your employment status – ongoing, casual / locum or fixed term.
Dates you have worked as a doctor and any breaks you have had.
Period of maternity leave taken.
An overview of your maternity leave issue including if it was refused and the reason for refusal.
Please send these details with the subject “Maternity Leave Microscope” to: [email protected]
We will contact you to discuss the information you send and confirm if you would like us to assist you with pursuing any entitlements you have not received.
