AMA Victoria, ASMOF Victoria and the Victorian Hospitals’ Industrial Association have developed a guide to direct the implementation of changes to overtime for doctors in training.

This guide has now been sent to hospitals for action. This means that doctors in training no longer need to sign off on unrostered overtime claims through their direct supervisors and line managers. Instead, claims for the payment of unrostered overtime can now be made directly to Medical Workforce.

Under the MoU, doctors in training must submit their unrostered overtime hours by either:

  • 5pm on the Friday immediately prior to the end of the pay period, or

  • In the case of unrostered overtime worked on Friday evenings or the weekend (including Monday morning), by 5pm of the Friday after the unrostered overtime was worked.

If you submit a late lodgement, you will need to submit an explanation in writing as to why the timeframes were not met to Medical Workforce. More information on this is set out within the implementation guide.
