I'm not sure about the situation in other states, however, the PMCV allocation schedule has been altered due to recent technical issues. This should be reflected on the PMCV website. PMCV will defer the next allocation round until 12:00 noon on Monday, 17 August 2026.

I can understand that its a stressful time with the current uncertainty. Unfortunately, MSCV does not have any data pertaining to the number of remaining intern positions or how many positions will be opened up after the National Audit. The 2025 data suggested that all CAT2 candidates did receive offers as CAT3 offers did come out.

Yes, keep an eye out for MSCV post regarding the financial hardship scheme. (We met the AHPRA CFO last week)

Yes, MSCV is in contact with AHPRA at the moment with regards to easing the burden of this on students.

If you are an AMA member you will be able to attend their webinars regarding updates as they come.

EBA for doctors in training

Yes you need to work at a Victorian Health Service and live in Victoria to join AMA Vic. If you are in another state you can join that state AMA.

Please email AMAV, as you may need to include additional details about your circumstance.

Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) 2026

MSCV has been talking to AHPRA re the registration fee - generally due August/September. We are looking at alternatives to reduce the burden on students. e.g. instalments. We will post information regarding financial hardship schemes soon.

They have been out speaking with you since O-week of first year and have already most liked signed you up. We don't have a preferred one we would recommend. They sponsor most events for students.

We recommend industry super funds.

Keep an eye out on MSCV socials - we will post closer to the time.

Deducted automatically and then you see your accountant at the end of financial year and they will do a tax return and make sure deductions are made and that you have paid the correct amount of tax.

Yes they should - check your payslip and contact us if it looks like its not there.

No

$100 on commencement and $100 every 3 weeks for the rest of the 13 week rotation.

You get 28 days of personal leave (sick leave per year).

5 days per year.

You work 56 weeks in your intern year, so if you take 5 weeks annual leave (leaves you with 51 weeks) which gives you 4 weeks that you could take as personal leave / conference leave / exam leave). We would suggest only taking sick leave when its needed.

You will need to speak to medical workforce asap - don't book anything until you have spoken to them.

It accrues so carries over to the next year.

Often hospitals do this yes. If you can make this work then I would recommend going with this if you don't have an extra special leave requirement in internship. After internship its easier to take leave when you want.

$33 per month (2026).

You can but you don't need to account for CPD as an intern. I would suggest not loading yourself with too much extra curricular study etc in internship if you can avoid. Internship is a lot.

Very - the Class Action pretty much ensures you all get paid over time. If there is an issue you can contact us if you are a member.

No you can decide to leave after the first year if you want to join a different health service. They will ask you about your intent to stay quite early in the year and you will need to answer this honestly. If you opt in for the HMO2 match you will need to have given up your PGY2 role for the following year to enter the match - you can't hedge your bets if you have a pre-match offer for the following year.

You can do it yourself but I would recommend getting an accountant - we have a partner firm Bongiorno's who does a very good deal for AMA Victoria members in internship and beyond. A good accountant pays for themselves.
