Pay increase for public hospital doctors

Tuesday 1 December 2015

A 3.33% pay increase will be paid to all public hospital employed Doctors in Training (DiTs) and Specialists from the first pay period on or after 1 December 2015.

This 3.33% increase is the final instalment from AMA’s 2013 Enterprise Bargaining round. For full-time and VMO Specialists the increase applies to the individual contract rate.

This pay increase will be followed by a between 4 and 14% DiT increment advancement depending on classification, as at February 2016 (for most). Specialists on the minimum AMA pay rates will receive an increment advance on the date of their Fellowship.

What next?
AMA Victoria will be entering into negotiations with health services and the Victorian Government in mid-2016 to establish a fifth generation state-wide agreement for DiTs and a second generation state-wide agreement for Specialists (the Specialist agreement also maintains previous AMA negotiated hospital specific agreements).

The AMA DiT wage calculator will be amended to reflect the new rates.

Please encourage your non-member colleagues to join AMA Victoria. Our strength comes through our members and will help us to achieve further gains in the next round of enterprise bargaining.

For more information on the pay increase, the agreement, or to express an interest in participating in developing AMA’s 2016 EBA agenda, contact the Workplace Relations Unit on (03) 9280 8722.
