As you begin the final week of your first rotation, it’s a good time to pause and reflect on how the term has progressed and if there is anything you should address before commencing term 2.

Reflecting on what you have learnt and how you have developed during this first rotation can also help you identify and carry these insights forward into the remainder of your intern year.

To help guide your reflection, consider the following questions.

During my first rotation:

  • What am I most proud of during this rotation?

  • Did the work tasks, environment and culture of the department feel like a good fit for my interests and working style?  If not, what does this show me about the type of work or environment that suits me better?

  • Was I able to seek feedback openly and apply it during the rotation?

  • What could I do differently next time?

  • What feedback did I receive from colleagues or supervisors and how can I apply it moving forward?

  • Are there aspects of my approach to patient care, teamwork or organisation that I can refine next term?

  • What is one small goal I want to focus on during my next rotation?

If you would like to talk through your experience so far or reflect on how to apply what you have learnt, you can book a 15 Minute Career Call with a member of our Careers and Professional Development team.
