Specialty training pathway recruitment can start earlier than most interns realise. Knowing key dates and requirements early gives you a real advantage. AMA Victoria is here to support you to plan and prepare with confidence.
2027 main AGPT application intake open 3 March-14 April 2026
For those considering GP training in 2027, the main AGPT (Australian General Practice Training Program) intake opens 3 March 2026 and closes 14 April 2026.
A second intake runs 7-28 July 2026, however places are expected to be limited – most metropolitan positions will likely be filled in the first round.
If you are selected as an intern, you will still be required to complete a second hospital year and obtain your certificate of completion of the national framework.
Having a confirmed training place means your health service can work with you to secure the mandatory experience required to commence GP clinic training in 2028.
