While many of you may decide to remain at your current health service for your PGY2 year in 2027, others may choose to move health services, apply for Paediatric or Basic Physician Training or move interstate to complete PGY2.
If this is the case, it is likely that you will need to participate in a competitive interview process which may be your first formal medical job interview.
AMA Victoria provides substantial support to members preparing for interviews and recruitment processes.
Webinars
As a starting point, we encourage you to engage with our Career Webinar Services for Early Career Doctors. Webinar 4 and Webinar 5 in this series focus specifically on interview preparation:
Webinar 4: Interview preparation – Introductory, motivational and reflective interview questions
Webinar 5: Interview preparation – Behavioural and scenario-based interview questions
To view these webinars, join the AMAVic Doctor in Training community and go to the events tab.
Resources
We also have a range of interview resources available in the AMA Victoria Hub, such as:
Harnessing the impact of language in interviews
Interview performance: body language and nerves
1:1 support
If you would like additional support, you can also access 1:1 interview coaching with our experienced career coaches who are highly skilled in preparing doctors for medical interviews.
