From Stephanie Davies
Now that you are working in the Victorian public health system, AMA Victoria’s role in supporting and advocating for doctors in training becomes especially relevant. As a member of the 2025 Student Leadership cohort, I want to invite you to get involved and I’d love for you to be an active part of the AMAV DiT Subdivision.
Our DiT Subdivision meetings are a space to discuss issues affecting doctors in training, health policy and meet like-minded colleagues. There are many more opportunities to become involved in the organisation from here depending on your interests.
Our next meeting is on Wednesday, 11 February at 7pm – online via Zoom. If your roster allows, I would love to have you join the meeting.
Note: No pre-registration is required to attend the meeting, just click on the link below to join the zoom meeting.
We will also be hosting an in-person meeting at AMA House in Parkville on Wednesday 11 March at 7pm which coincides with our annual Student Leadership Meet & Greet. We will have food provided for those attending in person — so if this works better and your roster allows, please come along and meet other junior doctors who are passionate about improving our working conditions.
If you would like to attend in person on the 11th of March, please RSVP to [email protected]. The meeting will be in the board room at AMA House, 293 Royal Parade, Parkville.
2026 is shaping up to be a busy year, especially as we continue bargaining for our new Enterprise Agreement, which will come into effect this year. This agreement determines the pay and conditions for all doctors in the Victorian public health system for the next four years. We will play a large role in holding health services and the government accountable to ensure they comply with the terms we secure.
Getting involved now is a great way to ensure your voice is heard. Let us know if you can make it, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions or topics you would like to discuss at an upcoming meeting.
I look forward to seeing you there.
