16 June 2021

The Victorian Government is committed to supporting the delivery of the Australian Government’s COVID-19 vaccination program.

Increasing the capacity of Victoria’s vaccination workforce to support the scale of this program, while being appropriately trained and competent in the safe management, preparation and administration of COVID-19 vaccines is essential.

With the vaccination program progressively opening up to more Victorians, it is critical that there is a sufficiently trained and available workforce to provide vaccinations.

The focus for recruitment of vaccinators includes:

Medical students that do not meet the eligibility to prepare or administer the vaccine may still be eligible to participate in other surge COVID-19 workforce areas, such as in support or administrative roles.

There is a particular need for staff for vaccination sites in regional and rural areas.

Medical practitioners and medical students interested in joining the workforce can visit www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/covid-19-vaccine-program-workforce. The website contains the registration link, factsheets, and frequently asked questions.

Free training is available. Upon registration, eligible vaccinators will be able to provide their availability and preferred location.
