Call for proposals: submit your idea for the inaugural project

The AMA Victoria Foundation has been rejuvenated by extending the objects in its constitution to reflect today’s most pressing health challenges and the evolving role of medicine in prevention.

We are inviting AMA Victoria members to help shape the Foundation’s fundraising initiative by submitting proposals for an inaugural project.

About this call for proposals

Members, if you have a practical, evidence-based idea that could help prevent or better manage lifestyle or infectious diseases, we want to hear from you.

This is your opportunity to propose the first project that the Foundation will take to the community and fundraise for, with a $50,000 activation goal.

The Foundation focuses on reducing, controlling and preventing diseases that cause significant and often avoidable harm across Victoria. From diabetes and cancer to mental health and preventable infections, too many Victorians experience conditions that could be prevented or better managed. These diseases place a heavy burden on individuals and families and add pressure to our health system, particularly in regional and rural communities.

What we are looking for

We welcome proposals for initiatives that deliver measurable public health benefit and align with one or more of the following:

  • Prevention and early intervention

  • Evidence-based health promotion and education

  • Research that supports better prevention or disease management

  • Addressing higher preventable disease burden including in regional and rural communities

Governance and transparency

The Foundation is administered by Harper Bernays, an independent professional financial organisation with significant experience acting as trustee of philanthropic organisations. This ensures robust governance, financial transparency and compliance with national charity and tax laws.

AMA Victoria provides professional leadership and direction to ensure funded initiatives align with the health needs of Victorians and the expertise of the medical profession.

Next step: submit a proposal

To be considered for the inaugural project, please submit your proposal by Friday 17 April 2026.
