AMA Victoria

Ahpra has shared the following practitioner updates, which we are passing on for members’ awareness.

1. Upcoming Webinar: Understanding notifications and practitioner support – Wednesday 20 August 2025

We understand that going through the notifications process can be distressing. To help explain the process and support available, we’re holding a webinar on Wednesday 20 August from 6pm to 7pm AEST

The webinar is open to everyone, but the material and discussion in this session will be focused on the experience of practitioners and health-related concerns.

What to expect:

  • A health practitioner sharing their personal experience of the notifications process
  • Case studies, statistics and an overview of our processes including typical outcomes
  • Information about practitioner wellbeing and support services
  • Opportunities to ask questions or provide comments throughout the webinar

To join, please register with your name and email. If you’re concerned about privacy, you’re welcome to register and join with a different name or email address.

If you have any questions or would like further information, please reach out to our experience and engagement team: [email protected].

2. MBA renewal campaign has commenced

Renewal is different this year

There is a new online Ahpra portal with multifactor authentication (MFA) for extra security. As usual, doctors need to apply to renew by 30 September to avoid a late fee.  When doctors first log in, they will need to link an authenticator app to their Ahpra portal.

So far, more than sixty thousand practitioners have logged in to their portals. Once practitioners are in their portal, they will see an alert on the homepage inviting them to renew.

Support available

The Ahpra portal help centre has all the help in one place. This includes:

Doctors do not need to pay for an authenticator app. We recommend the Google Authenticator app. It is one of the leading multifactor apps on the market. It is free and compatible with the Ahpra portal, and available for both iPhones and android smartphones.

Direct support from Ahpra

Ahpra’s customer service team is proactively contacting doctors to assist with MFA setup. If a doctor wants to verify the authenticity of the call, they can call the team directly on 1300 419 495.

If issues persist after contacting Ahpra’s customer service team please let AMA Victoria know so we can raise them with Ahpra.
