This article jumped out at me because it captures a theme that became impossible to ignore in 2024 — one that surfaced repeatedly in coaching conversations with doctors, in discussions with colleagues and friends, and in my own day-to-day work and life. It wasn’t just an occasional frustration; it was a growing problem with real consequences.

The issue? Focus. Or more accurately, the lack of it. Constant distractions, endless notifications, and relentless interruptions were chipping away at our ability to concentrate, complete tasks, and feel in control of our time.

Like many, I’ve felt this impact firsthand. One of my key resolutions for the new year is to reclaim my ability to focus — both for productivity and for my overall well-being. That means setting up habits and systems that protect deep work, minimise unnecessary accessibility, and help me concentrate when I need to. It’s about reconstructing the boundaries that crumbled during COVID and taking back control of my time — deciding when I’m available and when I’m not, when I’m working and when I’m not, when I need to focus, and when I need to rest and decompress.

If any of this resonates with you, this article is worth a read: 7 Habits to Stay Focused in a World Full of Distractions
