Urgent action required on elective surgery

AMA Victoria has written to the Victorian Government to call for the full 100 per cent resumption of elective surgery throughout the state (with limited exceptions). This call comes after strong and consistent advice we have received from members.

Post at your peril: A reminder to doctors about social media

With recent studies showing that almost a quarter of Australians rely on social media as their primary source of news, it is little wonder that the National Boards and Ahpra are sharpening their focus on health practitioner social media usage in the professional and personal sphere.

Financial support for surgeons and anaesthetists in private practice

AMA Victoria has written to the Victorian Government in support of surgeons and anaesthetists in private practice who have had their ability to work curtailed, as a consequence of recent directions resulting in the suspension of most privately performed elective surgery.

Private practice and unvaccinated patients

We have had many queries from members in private practice seeking greater certainty regarding whether they can decline to see unvaccinated patients in their clinics. AMA Victoria’s legal partner, Kennedys, has provided advice on this issue.
