#343 Digital image based prescribing arrangements extended
AMA Victoria has successfully pushed for an extension of digital image based prescribing arrangements until 31 December 2021. However, the Victorian Department of Health has emphasised this will be the last such extension, with doctors urged to integrate electronic prescribing into their practice.

We have recently been approached by members raising concerns over the way that many private hospitals are pressuring doctors to accept contracts to treat public patients at rates well below the rates for private patients, due to the expected capacity issues at public hospitals.
#336 Use of digital images of paper prescriptions and emergency supply arrangement by pharmacists
The Federal Department of Health has issued updated fact sheets advising that image based prescribing arrangements will cease from late September. The Victorian Department of Health has asked AMA Victoria to advise if we support the proposal to cease the two public health emergency orders that relate to this. We are after the views of members in constructing our response.

Cancer Council Victoria has advised that the second edition of the optimal care pathways and quick reference guides are now available. Optimal care pathways describe a national standard of high-quality cancer care that all Australians should expect.
#316 Impairment Assessment Training
Jurisdictions in Victoria and NSW are experiencing a shortage of specialists for important impairment assessment work. Impairment assessment work can provide an attractive income stream and has the flexibility to complement private and public clinical practice.
